Microsoft va vinde in Europa noua versiune a sistemului de operare Windows fara browser-ul Internet Explorer, pentru a se evita astfel incalcarea legislatiei europene in domeniul concurentei, potrivit Financial Times.
Versiunea de Windows 7 comercializata in Europa va fi numita Windows 7 E, si va beneficia de aceleasi caracteristici ca si Windows 7 care va fi distribuit in restul lumii, diferenta fiind doar in lipsa browser-ului Internet Explorer 8 !
“The E versions of Windows 7 will include all the features and functionality of Windows 7 in the rest of the world, other than browsing with Internet Explorer. Computer manufacturers will be able to add any browser they want to their Windows 7 machines, including Internet Explorer, so European consumers who purchase new PCs will be able to access the Internet without any problem. Consumers will also be able to add any Web browser to their PCs, to supplement or replace the browsers preinstalled by their computer manufacturer.” (Microsoft)
Prin urmare companiile care vor distribui calculatoare cu sistemul de operare Windows 7 preinstalat vor putea astfel sa opteze pentru a integra in sistemul de operare unul sau mai multe browsere de web.
Din punctul meu de vedere eliminarea Internet Explorer 8 este un lucru bun in proportie de 99% si afirm acest lucru gandindu-ma la acele site-uri care sunt optimizate special si doar pentru Internet Explorer, astfel utilizatorul de rand care va dori sa acceseze un astfel de web site va fi nevoit sa instaleze Internet Explorer. O alta categorie de utilizatori care probabil nu va renunta la Internet Explorer este ce-a a creatorilor de site-uri web/web-masterii care probabil vor trebui sa foloseasca in continuare, in scop profesional acest browser.
Partea pozitiva este ca printr-o astfel de decizie utilizatorul de rand va fi mai “cizelat” fiind nevoit astfel sa foloseasca un browser de calitate (Opera , Firefox sau Chrome) de care poate pana acum nici nu stia, sau pe care din comodidate, nestiind ce pierde, nici nu s-a gandit sa il instaleze.
